Summer

Education is the most important and difficult professions there is. Each one of us has an opportunity every day to make a positive difference in the life of a child. That is a heavy responsibility and there are times that we really feel its weight. That is why it is critically important that we take time and get away from school to clear our minds, refresh our bodies, and renew our spirt. As the school year winds down, I hope you are looking forward to doing things this summer that you don't normally get to do during the school year. What things will you do this summer to relax and get ready for next year?

I am looking forward to a summer home with Colby! We have no big travel plans, but lots of summer fun with friends and family. I have several books on nightstand just waiting to be opened. Of course my summer will involve lots of shopping! I will keep you all updated on the sales!

Well, actually I am working summer school this year to earn spending money for my trip to Canada in July! I will be spending eight days in Banff, Alberta. I've wanted to go for a long, long time. I'll also be preparing for my much anticipated and exciting move to third grade!

I plan on spending much needed time with my family. In June, Mattea and Janson will be involved in a lot of fun activities (swimming, cooking, and music classes). In July, my husband and I plan to take the kids on their first trip to Sea World. I plan on rejuvenating myself by reading, cooking and training for a half marathon that I plan to do in the fall.

I am so ready for summer and some much needed rest and relaxation. First, I will enjoy spending time with Trey. We love swimming, going to the library, playing games, etc. I am also looking forward to spending some time at the gym this summer and working on getting into better shape. I have come a long way, and I am going to keep on working hard. We are taking a family vacation to Lake Murray in Oklahoma in July for our ninth wedding anniversary. We are looking forward to paddleboats, swimming, fishing, and lots more fun. And of course, I am excited to be moving into my new second grade room.

I will be heading to Punta Cana in June for some much needed rest and relaxation. There is not anything more relaxing then laying by the ocean listening to the waves and reading a good book. I will also get to spend alot more time with Tylen this summer. He loves playing in the water so I am looking forward to seeing him play in the swimming pool this summer. He is growing up so fast! I hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

I am enjoying reading your comments; you are giving me some great ideas. Jeanne and I plan on going through central Texas to look for Western furniture and art. We plan on staying in Salado at least one night. We have a couple of Jack Terry paintings, and he has a studio there. Do you know of any other cool places to stay that might have unique western things?

After leaving school on Saturday, I stopped by the library and picked up 3 books to read just for fun. Two of them are mysteries by authors I have not read before. Right now, however, I am busy watching all the programs I recorded and didn't have time to watch. David and I are going to Grand Lake in OK to visit his sister and 92 year old father. I plan to fly to KC to visit my family around the Fourth. Hopefully, go to the Lake of the Ozarks then too. I hope everyone has a fun, relaxing summer.

We went to Bandera last summer. It definitely had a western feel. The shops were fun, but the scenery, for me, was the best. This year I am going to Lake Whitney with my kids and grandkids. We will just enjoy being together, swimming, boating and hiking.

Second try to post--can't believe it's already the middle of June! I've made two trips to Longview to help my dad care for my mom plus one to the deer lease just to relax. I've attended a gt workshop as well as spent the day with my new second grade team at an awesome writing conference. Last week was VBS at our church where I rocked babies and took a special little boy. Now it's onto the garage to tackle my biggest summer project--organizing our combining of two households of "stuff". Hope to have a big garage sale using the proceeds for a special first anniversary trip!!

Our summer will be spent swimming alot at NRH2O, reading with the kids, vacationing in Tennessee, and going to the coast. Caden will also go to a baseball camp with my brother who coaches. We will have a week of VBS and Fine Arts Camp at our church. It is a busy, busy summer but I will enjoy every minute I get to spend with my kids.

As you journey to Salado, stop by my home town of West, TX. Grab some kolaches for the ride, and make your way to downtown West. If you have time, West Pool is a lot of fun, with diving boards, a slide, and a trolley. There are some antique shops in West as well, so you might be able to find some furniture. Growing up in a small town has always been something I cherish, and I love visiting with my family now.
We are enjoying our time at NRH2O as well, and are much anticipating our trip to Lake Murray in Oklahoma in two weeks. We will celebrate 9 years of marriage while on vacation. I am also enjoying The Hunger Games trilogy. It is awesome. Hope everyone is enjoying the time off. Cherish each day, and make it FUN!

This will be my first year staying overnight at the retreat and I can't wait to have fun visiting with all of my old friends and hopefully meeting and making some new ones. I have enjoyed the past 3 retreats I've attended because of the great team building expereinces and because of how pumped I get for the next year! I look forward to seeing what great things are in store for us this upcoming year.

For the past three summers, Lanah and I have been blessed to attend the single parent family camp with our church group in Ruidoso, New Mexico. We always look forward to the trip with anticipation. The drive was long but once we're there, it was all worth it! A week of worshiping, revisiting with old friends, and not having to cook all week long.....what more can we ask for?

Summer is a time for me to spend quality time with my family. :) We are having a wonderful summer! My daughter and I vounteer every summer during our VBS. Landree helps and leads the music and I am a crew leader (usually with some special needs and children that need a little more structure):)We have been busy with camps and had a wonderful trip to Pensacola Beach in Florida for 8 days. It was so relaxing! We also got to spend our anniversary at Cook's Children's downtown with Landree because she had to get her appendix out! She is doing well. Thanks be to God for his timing because we were leaving for Colorado when she started having pain. The doctors said that her appendix would have ruptured when we started to climb the mountain to our cabin due to the change in pressure and we would have been an hour away from a hospital. God is so good! :)
