WOW Collaboration

I was very pleased with the overall effort of our first Working on the Work Day.  I saw connections being made, I heard excellent clarifying questions, and I felt the energy as you worked through the process of picking TEKS/SEs and visualizing your portrait of success.  What are your thoughts, connections, and questions after WOW Day?

I was a bit intimidated at first, walking into that room and sitting at that table in the big chairs, surrounded by others--but after a few minutes, my discomfort disappeared, and the value of the process became clear. I think the WOW process provides us the focus and ability to concentrate on developing the meaningful work that our scholars need.

I think that WOW day is beneficial to planning lessons based on our students' needs. At this point though, it is a little overwhelming with WIN, our grade level time on Thursdays, Forethought, and WOW. I see the benefit to all the programs, but the change and time it is taking will be a process. Staying positive and focusing on the end result makes all the work meaningful to the teachers and scholars.

I like the restructuring of WOW where we came to the table with the objective in mind. The work was more productive. I do have to agree with Angela that with WIN, grade level planning on Thursdays, Forethought, and WOW all seem to be a little overwhelming this year. I think thought if we continue to take baby steps that these expectations will meet successfully, and the stress will eventually go away.

I liked the idea of using the data to decide what we needed to work on with our scholars. I think it will be more beneficial than just picking a "hard to teach" concept.

Using the data from the Kilgo training to use as our WOW lesson has made WOW days a little less stressful for me. I always felt like we needed a fantastic lesson and product on WOW days. I liked the ideas and collaboration from our team as well as anyone else in our WOW meeting. I also like the idea of sharing out at faculty meetings so we can all see what is going on throughout our school. I know there is so much new stuff going on and it does get a little overwhelming but if we stick together and help each other, we will get through it and it will be beneficial for our scholars. They are what we are here for.
